NETBALL
This year Southwell fielded a total of twelve teams from Year 3 to Year 8. It was pleasing to see the number of teams remain consistent from the year before, demonstrating that girls still do love to play netball. Our games were played mid-week and on the weekends. It was great that we managed to get some games in before the return of Covid-19 shut us down and finished our season early.
As always, the players enjoyed the games and the coaching opportunities that came to them. A really big thank you to the coaches, teachers and parents who gave of their time to ensure we could field all the teams we had each week. Your time was much appreciated by the players and the school. It was fun this year to have spectators each week and this brought a breath of freshness to the game. Thank you to the supporters who came along to cheer us on. You can never underestimate the noise from the sideline which brings a fresh momentum to the game!
It was another eventful season. We enjoyed home games and fixtures which added to the enjoyment for some of the teams. There were new fixtures created and we hope these continue. These allow the coaches to field a variety of different playing options and extend the player’s experience. These are always the games the players remember into the future.
In conclusion, the netball season was enjoyable and great fun, as always. We do hope that next year we can complete a season that starts and finishes without a hitch.
Yours in netball...
