I enjoyed living with them so much that I applied to join their religious congregation, which is called the Society of the Divine Saviour. Education is a major focus, and the congregation runs schools all over the world.I am currently learning Italian. In October, I will begin seven years of study in philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. At the end of my studies, I hope to be a priest and a teacher (like Chaplain and Rev. Matt) in one of the Salvatorian schools around the world. It was so lovely to visit Southwell School in March and to see many of my former students, who are now Year 8, as well as my colleagues. Some highlights of my time overseas so far have been: %u2022 Performing kapa haka at Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace.%u2022 Catching up with Whaea Whetu and her wh%u0101nau in Paris, France. %u2022 Connecting with family in Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden.%u2022 Visiting the graves of some of my ancestors, who were soldiers in the First World War and Second World War, and who are buried in Belgium, France and Italy. %u2022 Being in St Peter%u2019s Square, Rome, during the conclave and election of the new Pope. I saw the white smoke with my very own eyes!Lastly, to the students of Southwell School and especially my former students - the world is your oyster! I am excited for you and can%u2019t wait to see what you will do and where you will go. I wish you all the best! Arama Pou pictured with current Te Reo Maori teacher Whaea Whetu
