Number One uniform must be worn when required; Photos, Founders Day, Prize Giving, opera/music evenings, weekend, evening and Christmas chapel services, students involved in sporting fixtures with other schools, attending interviews/exams at other schools and speech and drama exams. Their uniform is to be worn with pride both on and off site. It must be clean, tidy and in good condition.
Girl’s Hair must be tidy and tied back if shoulder length or longer with a blue or black hair tie or clip. Black or Navy headbands are also acceptable. Culottes and Skirts are to be knee length. Socks and Tights are to be free of ladders, holes and tears.
We would like all students to have their natural hair colour – no dyes or hair products. We do not wish for any undue attention to be drawn to a haircut that comes with extreme hairstyles.
Boys Please ensure your son is wearing garters to keep his socks up. We would like boys’ hair to be neat and tidy. No numbers 1 or 2 haircuts, no undercuts and no shaved hair lines. Hair must not be longer than the top of the shirt collar. We would like all students to have their natural hair colour – no dyes or hair products. Shoes Only designated shoes (McKinlay Delta) are permitted (unless you have a medical exemption). Sandals (McKinlay Safari) are to be worn correctly, with the heel straps done up.
All clothing must be clearly named. We are the sole supplier of the School uniform and sell new and limited second-hand uniform.
New Clothing Appointments – Consultation and uniform fittings can take up to an hour (allowing a one to one fitting and explanation of the various uniform items).
Blazer Badges House Badges and Southwell Lapel badges are available from the uniform shop. Badges earnt at Southwell are worn on the blazer.
Hats Wide brim hats are compulsory during Term 1 and Term 4. No hat, no play. Caps are available but these are only to be worn for the following sports; Tennis, Softball and Touch Rugby. Beanies are for winter months and are only to be worn to and from sport.
WITHDRAWAL (or non-attendance)
(a) The parents/guardian must provide one term’s notice in writing to the Headmaster to withdraw a student from the School.
(b) Where no notice or the incorrect amount of notice is given by the parent/guardian to the Headmaster, a fee in lieu of notice will be charged for: tuition, boarding (if applicable), and itinerant lessons (if applicable).
(c) Verbal notice of withdrawal cannot be accepted. Notice of withdrawal must be in writing.
(d) Irrespective of a student’s time away on leave, sickness, quarantine,
