2021 was another disjointed year, with Lockdowns putting paid to plans in the latter half of the year - not least the Line Dancing on the Oval for Founder's Day.
However, one of the things which really stands out in York is the way all the students and staff support each other. We may not win everything (or even anything!) but we always give 100%, whether it be on the sports field, during the Book Week quizzes or at House Singing.
A highlight this year was watching the House Singing come together. It was truly a full house effort and we appreciated Matua's input with regards to the use of all three of New Zealand's official languages. We truly deserved our second placing.
It has also been wonderful to watch Tor and Freddie grow in confidence as the year has progressed. They are Yorkies to the core!
Sadly we farewelled a formidable quartet of staff this year... Stew and Keryn Cameron headed off to Hawkes Bay, Matua relocated to Auckland and Laura Stewart moved to teach at Hamilton East. They will be missed.

This year we were privileged enough to be York leaders for 2021 and what a great year it was.
In Term 1 we had Swimming Sports where our house swam their hardest, putting in 110% effort. Sadly we did not win but we had a fun-filled day.
Term 2 we had House Singing where we sang Phillip Phillips' Home. Our house came second thanks to Matua's great idea of showcasing the three official languages - NZ Sign Language, Te Reo and English.
Term 3 consisted of Cross Country. All the Yorkies pushed themselves to do well and pass the person in front of them and we had a few people in our house who won.
At the end of Term 3 we had started our line dance practice and our house got Party Rock Anthem and we were ready to shine on the Oval, but as we all know Lockdown came and we did not get to perform it. But we came back strong and enjoyed competing in the Athletics competition.
