It%u2019s hard to believe a full term has already flown by since I first stepped into the Headmaster%u2019s office. Having been a teacher at Southwell for 15 years, I%u2019ve had the privilege of witnessing the school%u2019s evolution and dedication. The past few months in this new role have been a whirlwind of new routines and countless inspiring moments. The dedication of our students and the passion of our staff is something I never tire of seeing.My first priority during this initial term has been connecting with people. This journey has begun with our students, parents, and teachers, and will extend to our wider academic, administrative, and support staff. I have been taking the time to listen, to understand why Southwell means so much to them, what makes our school so special, and to hear their hopes and dreams for the future. Beyond our immediate school community, I%u2019m also looking forward to connecting with the wider Southwell family, including the Fellows and Alumni who form the heart and history of this very special place.Hand in hand with listening, my second priority is maintaining and refining what is already in place. Southwell is a strong school, and our community as a whole deeply values its high expectations, cherished traditions and history, and its community-minded, child-focused care. My aim is to build upon these existing strengths, ensuring that we continue to provide an exceptional environment for our students.For me, my tenure as Headmaster is not just a professional challenge but a deeply personal family connection. I feel a strong sense of protection for Southwell School and a desire to preserve its foundational values: faith, hope, and love, through family. My goal is to provide a home for learning that prepares students for life, fostering a community that will ultimately support one another through both great happiness and great adversity.
