                                    CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OFGIRLS AT SOUTHWELLThis year marks 25 years since girls were welcomed at Southwell School. A moment in history that has truly transformed and shaped the school into what it is today. From the day they started, girls at Southwell have made an incredible impact and contribution to our Southwell community.A NEW MILLENNIUM - A NEW ERAIn 2000, Southwell Preparatory School for Boys became co-ed, and an impressive number of girls joined the school that year. These girls quickly found their feet and made noticeable ripples throughout the school with strong performances in sports teams, speech and drama and academic achievement. The 78th opera production %u201cOliver%u201d went down in history, ending the tradition of boys playing all roles.A particularly interesting and humorous reflection was captured in the 2000 yearbook by Head Prefect Thomas Jamieson in his speech at the leavers dinner. %u201cThe introduction of girls has caused many hilarious moments and has definitely added another dimension to Southwell. The constant wanting to know who%u2019s going out with who was quite amusing. If anyone wants any information on girls at Southwell, Theo Warrick is the one to ask.%u201d To add to that, Theo Warrick in his most memorable moments statement, went on to say %u201chaving the thrill of girls at school%u201d was one of his highlights of his time at Southwell.
